How come I'm on the internet?I guess it all started on Geocities Free. That was in my first or second year of "middelbare school" (high school), so I was either 12 or 13 years old. My friend had a webcam and we'd combine fireworks with toys. We could've been the first to do it on Youtube, if there was a Youtube at that time, but instead we made stills from the best bangs and put them online through some JAVA-ish applet that came with geocities. Anyway, it was not long before I discovered it was faster to make small adjustments in notepad. Soon after, I found out this was also more accurate, and if done right, maybe even faster. On the epic and mysterious host Beigetower.org (2003) I stumbled into the wonderous world of PHP and MySQL. Ever since, I've been experimenting. A few years ago, I graduated from high school with a VWO (NT+NG) diploma. By this time I had already sold several of my scripts and called myself a webdesigner (because I also made webdesigns, and included one with every script). I decided to pursue my artistic tendencies and tried for a preliminary year on Utrecht's arts academy, Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht. I had a lot of fun here and it was a great opportunity to set foot in a lot of different disciplines and trying out new materials. More recently, I've started to study for a diploma in Communication & Multimedia Design, where I'll work on websites, videos, flash applications and creative media constantly. I'm still in the first year, but I enjoy learning new ways of making my hobby into an art. |
